This project transformed an existing office space into a vibrant law clinic and library for Southern University at New Orleans (SUNO). As the Project Architect and Assistant Project Manager, I guided the design process from the initial programming to the final details, exploring several options to meet the needs of students and faculty.
Key responsibilities included:
- Leading programming and space planning to accommodate legal services, library functions, and support areas.
- Developing 3D models and design studies to assess layout, lighting, and flow.
- Coordinating BIM collaboration with consultants from various fields to improve workflows and ensure design goals.
- Managing the visualization and drafting teams to keep design consistent and meet project deadlines.
- Acting as the design lead, ensuring that reuse strategies respected the original structure while meeting modern performance and accessibility standards.
This project showed how careful reuse can turn underused spaces into impactful areas for education and community service.
