Biomaterials for Designers

This project explored mycelium and other natural building materials as sustainable alternatives for construction. During the first half of the semester, we focused on understanding how these materials are processed and produced, while also testing their physical and structural properties. The second half of the project involved fabricating everyday objects using these materials, resulting in the development of a wall tile and a lamp through controlled mycelium growth.

The research and experimentation centered on materials such as mycelium, hempcrete, and bioplastics, highlighting their potential applications in future sustainable design and construction practices.
